The Tiger King

Ans. Jilani Jung Bahadur, the king of Pratibandapuram is known as the Tiger King. At the time of his birth, astrologers said that he would have to die one day. The ten days old boy asked the manner of his death. Everyone got surprised on seeing a 10-year-old boy speaking. The astrologer said that his death would come from a tiger. The young prince got angry and said ‘Let tigers beware’. He decided to kill hundred tigers. Thus he got this name.

Ans. The royal infant grew up to be the king of Pratibandapuram. He decided to kill hundred tigers because he wanted to disprove the prophecy which said that his death would come from hundredth tiger.

Ans. The tiger population became extinct in the forests of Pratibandapuram. So Maharaja married a royal prince, whose father had state with a large number of Tigers. The Maharaja killed five or six tigers each time he visited his father-in-law. Thus, he was able to find the required number of tigers to kill. He shot ninety-nine tigers.

Ans. Maharaja wanted to be extremely careful for the hundredth tiger which was supposed to decide his fate. On encountering the hundredth one, he took a careful aim at the tiger and shot it. He was extremely happy and left the place hastily.

Ans. The astrologer dies before the king gets an opportunity to kill one hundred tigers. So astrologer’s chapter closes there only.

The prophecy cannot be indisputably disproved as the king was ultimately killed by a tiger (Toy)
